Hoffmann is both chief executive officer of Education Partnerships, Inc., which he founded in 2001, and the executive director of The Principals' Partnership, launched by the Union Pacific Foundation in January 2002. From 1989 to 2000, he worked closely with Champion International Corporation as the executive director for the company's award-winning, nationally recognized business/education partnership.

Hoffmann's extensive experience in management and education includes a wide range of positions, including director of The Principals' Leadership Institute, a principal for 12 years in Connecticut, executive director of several Fortune 500 business/education partnerships and advisory council member of the National Association of Partners in Education. He also served as vice president of The Principals' Center at Cooperative Educational Services, chairman of the program committee, chairman of the Business-Education Partnership, and a member of the executive boards of several education and community organizations.
